Joy CanadyFounder, President
Joy graduated from Hardbarger Business College and has been a consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics for 31 years. She loves Jesus and has a heart for servanthood. Janice Faye's Ranch is named after Joy's mom, Janice Faye, in hopes that it will carry on her mom's legacy of being a true servant of God and making her life's mission that of, "Doing unto others as she would have them do unto her". This was also Mary Kay's life and business motto. Joy and her husband, Darrell are the proud parents of three married children, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Darrell and Joy are also proud to serve the county as licensed foster parents. Joy will guide the staff in selecting and accepting at-risk youth in the program who show the highest risk factors. She feeds, grooms and trains the equine and teaches the at-risk youth life skills learned through The Natural Lifemanship Institute. Joy counsels the tutoring and vocational training volunteers as well as the equine specialists. She and Darrell have become more aware of the need some children have of simply feeling safe and loved while experiencing the foster parent life challenges. These are two major life lessons the ranch will seek to provide at-risk youth who participate in the program. |

Anecia LeeTherapist--LCMHCS, NCC, BC-TMH, PCC
Anecia is a lover of the Lord, family and others. She and her husband, Roger, have two married children and three grandchildren they refer to as "TREASURES". Their son, Blane is married to Deanna and they have two daughters--Ella Grace and Adalyn Ruth. Jonathon is married to Taylor and have their youngest granddaughter--Lainey Olivia. As a Native American, education was especially important to Anecia and her family of origin. She completed her Undergraduate Degree at Pembroke State University where she majored in Criminal Justice. She used her degree for many years with the Department of Correction, where she met and fell in love with Roger. After many years with the State of NC, Anecia returned to school at Liberty University where she graduated with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is the Founder/CEO of Haven of Rest Counseling, PLLC, in Benson. She is passionate about walking alongside those that God sends her way to support them in their healing. Anecia's greatest desire is to love and serve God, her husband/family and others. Janice Faye's Ranch is excited and honored to share and learn what God has for His people with Anecia at our side. |

Miles CanadyVice President
Miles is an NC State College graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Leadership in the Public Sector where he studied Leadership and structures for non-profit organizations. He completed his Masters Degree at Fayetteville State University and teaches Sociology at an area community college. Miles is married and has (2) beautiful daughters. He will assist with fundraising projects and general maintenance of the farm/grounds. He lives and works by the golden rule of treating others the way he wants to be treated and believes in putting God first, family second and career third. |

Bobbi MattocksBoard Member/Secretary
Bobbi L. Mattocks is a seasoned Court Manager II bringing forty-two years of legal experience. She has been employed with the Cumberland County Court System for twenty-four of those years with Cumberland County Family Court. Prior to becoming employed with the court system, she worked with private attorneys who specialized in family law. Cumberland County implemented the first Human Trafficking Court in North Carolina in 2019. Ms. Mattocks was asked by the Chief District Court Judge to be a Coordinator with that court and was instrumental in helping form the court which came to be called W.O.R.T.H. Court (We Overcome Recidivism Through Healing). W.O.R.T.H. Court’s mission is to assist human trafficking victims separate themselves from circumstances that keep them in slavery or sexual servitude. Ms. Mattocks chaired the Cumberland County Remember My Name Domestic Violence Vigil from 2014 through 2021. She served as Administrative Assistant to Chief District Court Judge Robert Stiehl from 2014 until 2020. She served as Secretary on the Cumberland County Domestic Task Force from 2014 until 2020. Ms. Mattocks currently serves on the Cumberland County Child Fatality Prevention Team where she has served since 2008. She is the Cumberland County contact person with the Administrative Office of the Courts for all Cumberland County Emergency District Court Judge Commissions. Ms. Mattocks served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Arts Council for six years. She also served as a member of the Board of Directors for Fayetteville Urban Ministry for ten years. While serving on the Fayetteville Urban Ministry Board of Directors, she was also a member of the Find-A-Friend Advisory Council for the organization. Ms. Mattocks was born and raised in Sampson County and has lived and worked in Fayetteville, North Carolina since 1995. She attends church at Fayetteville Community Church. She enjoys the beach, traveling, reading, and spending time with her dog, Mason. |

Patsy MartinBoard Member/Treasurer
Patsy is a native of Sampson County, yet spent most of her working career in Washington, DC. She is retired with almost 40 years of experience in the financial and management fields, working with two different law firms. Patsy is a mother of two, grandmother of four and great-grandmother of three. Her purpose in retirement is to give back to those in need in any way the lord leads. |

Karen ThurberBoard Member
Karen has 20 years of experience in the behavioral health industry, having worn several different hats. She is a former treatment foster parent, an adoptive parent, a regional treatment foster parent program manager, and a day treatment service provider and program director. Her work experience has provided her the opportunity to not only deliver services, but to also administer programs. She has knowledge of the rules, regulations and requirements governing delivery of treatment foster care services, and she has experience in overseeing the monitoring, supervision, credentialing, authorization, service delivery and documentation. Karen credits her day treatment experience as especially insightful in understanding how partnering with other key community partners is instrumental in achieving better outcomes for our children and their families. She has witnessed how mutual collaboration between mental health and educational partners better serves children with mental, emotional and other behavioral health challenges by promoting mainstreaming opportunities, participation in inclusive classroom settings, etc., which result in better academic as well as behavioral health achievements. Karen is passionate about working collaboratively with children, families, and community partners to achieve best outcomes for families served. |

Jennifer Jauregui is a current English teacher at Clinton High School with 20+ years of teaching experience. As a former Army spouse, she worked For DODEA schools in Panama and Puerto Rico. She has a Bachelor of Science in English Literature teaching and a Master's degree in Educational Psychology. When not teaching, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her three daughters and her lovable farm friends. |

Aaron is from Sampson County, grew up in the Clement area and graduated from Midway High School in 2008. He has a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters. Aaron is a North Carolina State Trooper and has been in Law Enforcement for 12 years, serving the community of Sampson and North Carolina. |

Priscilla WebbBoard Member
Priscilla takes a vision and makes it reality through collaboration, teamwork and strategy development. She intuitively sees the thread of opportunity that wind through any organization, brings them together coherently, helps others extend their critical thinking and drives business advantage. Currently, she serves as a Social Worker with the local government and a Discharge Planner with UNC Health. She also spent time protecting and serving the public sector with the NCDPS division of Adult Probation and Parole. Previously, as General Manager, Priscilla led distribution/transportation division for Delhaize America. Earlier she rose through the ranks of the Food Lion Company transitioning from retail to supply chain distribution. She began her career in retail with Food Lion. Priscilla holds a MA - Human Service Counseling from Liberty University and a BS - Criminal Justice from Fayetteville State University. She has served on several Boards of Directors including, Triangle Urban League, Central Carolina Community College Foundation Board, and Bennett Bells Board of Directors. Priscilla lives with her husband and two children in Sampson County. She enjoys traveling, cooking, golfing and spending time with family. |

Kelli AdamsEquine Specialist
Born in Connecticut and raised on a horse farm in Vermont, Kelli got smart and headed south for College, attending the University of South Carolina. Her family, hating the cold winters soon followed, landing in the Myrtle Beach area in the early 1980’s. Marrying her soulmate in her mid-thirties -- who came as a package with twin pre-teenaged girls—Kelli discovered that she enjoyed working with youth and left her real estate career to become a youth director at a small country church and a substitute teacher for the middle and high schools in Johnston County, North Carolina. When in late 2011 her husband accepted a job that required significant travel, they decided to return to the house they own on the Waccamaw River in Conway and a year later she discovered the volunteer opportunity with the Barnabas Horse Foundation. Finding something that now combined her knowledge and love for horses and her desire to help children, Kelli dove in and quickly got trained as an equine specialist through The Natural Lifemanship Institute. She joined the Barnabas Board of Directors in November 2014, and in 2016, funded by The Victims of Crime Act grant, she became one of three paid staff and worked as the Community Outreach Coordinator through 2018. When Hurricane Florence descended on the Carolina’s in September of 2018 and flooded their home on the Waccamaw River, Kelli and Bryan returned to his beloved Johnston County, NC. Giving up her dream job to return to NC with her husband, Kelli has, after two years of searching, finally found a place to land. She is excited to join Janice Faye’s Ranch as a volunteer equine specialist and looks forward to being a part of this ministry and going where God leads.. |

Amy KellyTutor & Equine Specialist
Amy finds her God-given purpose in teaching. She has been an English teacher at Lakewood High school since 2009. She has two degrees from Campbell University--Master of Education and Bachelor of Arts in English. She is a cat mom to Alvin and the ducks in her backyard. Amy tutors the youth in the program at the ranch and assists during horse sessions and with the yearly fundraisers. She puts her faith in Jesus Christ first and attributes her source of joy and peace to Him. Her hobbies include travel, music, reading and spending quality time with family and friends.

Amy Sutton
Equine Assistant
Amy Sutton has an associate degree in nursing and has been a Registered Nurse for over 28 years, in which most of her years have been here in Sampson County as a home health/hospice nurse. She married the love of her life, William, and has 2 adult children- Sydney and Sawyer, and just recently added a son-in-law, Conner. She attends church at Central Baptist in Dunn, NC, where she has been a faithful member for 30 years. She loves Jesus, serving others, and finds her passion in encouraging others and helping them grow in their faith in Jesus. She loves serving at Janice Faye’s Ranch, where she can be the hands and feet of Jesus in whatever way she is needed. She grew up with horses all throughout her childhood and loves to see the healing that they can bring. Her hobbies include spending time with her children, traveling, and watching TV at night with her husband.

Christy HairrEquine Assistant
Christy is a licensed insurance agent with the state of North Carolina who has worked in insurance and finance for over 25 years. In Christy’s spare time she enjoys fishing and spending time with her son Christian on his boat. Born and raised in Sampson County, she is well known in the area and has never met a stranger. Playing sports in high school has led her to continue the love of softball. She enjoys following her niece Sarah’s high school softball career and is a big part of Sarah’s life. Christy is a caregiver to both her parents as they are retired and are navigating through the aging process. She has a true love for helping others in need, animals and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Sherry MatthewsMarketing Assistant
Sherry Matthews is a native of Sampson County and a 1978 graduate of Clinton High School. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she graduated in 1982.
Sherry's career in journalism has spanned over 35 years. She has been the publisher of The Sampson Independent in Clinton since 2015, and before that she served as the local newspaper's editor for 22 years. Her passion for the community and her love of the Lord has led her to serve in various roles during the last three decades. She is a member of Warsaw Baptist Church where she has served as both a deason and chairwoman of the deacon board, as well as working with the WBC Youth Stick Drama team. She is currently a member of the Sampson Regional Medical Center Foundation Board, a member of the Clinton-Sampson Rotary Club, and a member of the All-America City Committee. She has served on the Sampson Community College Foundation board as well as on the United Way of Sampson County's board. Joining the team at Janice Faye's Ranch couples her love for serving God by serving others with her love of telling the wonderful stories of children and adults. |

Evie Eller is a passionate art student at East Carolina University, honing visual communication and digital design skills. As an Honors College student at ECU, she demonstrates a strong academic commitment alongside her creative pursuits. With a keen eye for detail and creativity, Evie is eager to bring fresh ideas to life while exploring various design tools and techniques. Always learning and experimenting, she is focused on developing a strong portfolio and gaining hands-on experience in the design industry. Evie is excited to collaborate on projects that blend aesthetics with functionality and strives to create designs that make an impact for Janice Faye's Ranch.

Lisa MartinezFarm Maintenance/Equine Assistant
Lisa was raised in the Bronx and has had a love for horses since a very early age. She has a long career as Safety Manager for a large corporation and is able to bring her love for horses and safety training to the ranch. Lisa is Founder of Believe Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Roseboro, NC where she rescued and nurtured back to health all the rescued equine serving at Janice Faye's Ranch.
